I am a licensed clinical psychologist working with individuals, couples and poly-relationships, dreaming new possibilities together. Transforming and elaborating emotional experiences and developing greater awareness of our storylines. Co-creating new relational experiences of connection, recognition and intimacy with the persons I work with. We will focus on struggles with freedom, love and trust to change patterns of repetitions, as we will be working on elaboration of meaning and opening of new worlds and possibilities. Together we will explore connecting with our feelings and discovering un-lived spaces and existential dreads as well as hopes and dreams.
I am LGBTQAI+ affirmative and dedicated to providing a safe and accepting space. My specialties include working with trauma, developmental trauma and complex trauma, abuse and sexual assault, addiction and recovery, safety, self harm and severe and persistent mental illness including Depression, Anxiety, Mood and Bipolar, Psychosis and Personality disorders, Dissociation, Compulsions, Eating Disorders, Loss, Safety, Gender, Sexuality, infidelity, polyamory and kink.
I work with Young Adults, Adults and Older Adults, Couples and Complex relationships such as Polyamory. I am fluent in English and Hebrew.
Treatment modalities: working predominantly from psychoanalytic perspectives of Post Bionian Field theory, Experience based-pragmatic (storying) psychoanalysis, Complexity theory and Existentialisim.
I complement my work with elements from other Psychoanalytic Relational, interpersonal theory, self psychology and Phenomenological Contextualism.

Shir Shanun, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in California, and a candidate at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles (ICP-LA). She is also a graduate of the EDCAS and EDCAS RECAST programs (eating disorders compulsions and addictions from a relational perspective) at the William Alanson White Institute in New York (WAWI). Shir is an editorial board member at Psychoanalythic Inquiry and the creator of Connections and Conversation as well as the organizer of Decentralized Learning Experiences. Shir is also an Associate Editor of Psychoanalysis, Self, and Context. Shir presented at the 45th International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology and American Psychoanalytic Association 2025 Annual Meeting and at the American Psychoanalytic Association, Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
